What are digital twins, and how are they used in our work?

Digital Twins are virtual representations of physical objects, processes, or systems. They use data from sensors, simulations, and other sources to create accurate and precise digital models that mirror the real-world object or process. Digital Twins facilitate decision-making by allowing users to analyze the behavior of the virtual system under different conditions, predict its performance, and optimize its design.

In the construction industry, PFL MEP in partnership with Prefab Logic uses Digital Twins to represent mechanical HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire alarm systems through VR and AR technologies. This allows architects, developers, general contractors, and other trades to review the systems in virtual or augmented reality, improving decision-making and coordination throughout the whole construction process. By using digital twin technology, PFL MEP creates a more streamlined workflow, which enhances communication, improves construction efficiency, and increases safety.
